भारत में केवल वायु प्रदूषण से वर्ष 2019 में
तकरीबन 16
लाख से ज्यादा लोगों
की मौत हो चुकी है. इसे अभी सप्ताह भी नहीं हुआ कि अब एक और दावे ने हैरान कर दिया
है. दावा किया गया है कि वायु प्रदूषण के कारण कोरोना संक्रमण ज्यादा जानलेवा
साबित हो रहा है. यह दावा कोई और नहीं, बल्कि हॉर्वर्ड
विश्वविद्यालय के वैज्ञानिकों ने किया है. वैज्ञानिकों ने पाया कि दूषित हवा वाले
इलाकों में रहने वाले
कोविड-19
के मरीजों की मौत होने
की संभावना ज्यादा रहती है. वैज्ञानिकों के अनुसार, वायु प्रदूषण कोरोना
महामारी से होने वाली मौतों के मामले में एक प्रमुख कारक है.

स्कूल ऑफ पब्लिक हेल्थ ने अमेरिका में एक राष्ट्रीय स्तर का अध्ययन किया है जो कि
कोरोना महामारी और वायु प्रदूषण के बीच संबंध स्थापित करता है. शोध में बताया गया
कि हवा में मौजूद जहरीले कणों के लंबे वक्त तक संपर्क में रहने वाले लोग अगर
कोविड-19 की चपेट में आ जाएं, तो उनमें मौत का खतरा बढ़ जाता है. पीएम 2.5 स्तर के कण हवा तक
पहुंचने के सबसे बड़े स्त्रोत कार, रिफाइनरी, पावर प्लांट हैं.
तीन हजार
अमेरिकी काउंटी पर अध्ययन
यह अध्ययन करने के लिए शोधकर्ताओं ने
अमेरिका की तीन हजार से ज्यादा काउंटी में संक्रमण से हुई मौतों और वहां वायु
प्रदूषण के स्तर की तुलना की. इन सभी काउंटी में जनसंख्या के मुकाबले अस्पतालों
में उपलब्ध बिस्तर की संख्या, संक्रमण
के कुल मामले, मौसम की
स्थिति और सामाजिक व व्यावहारिक कारक जैसे मोटापा और धूम्रपान की आदतों को जोड़कर
अध्ययन किया गया. वैज्ञानिकों ने पाया कि पीएम 2.5 के जितने ज्यादा संपर्क में कोई
व्यक्ति आएगा, उसके
संक्रमित होने पर मौत का खतरा करीब आठ फीसदी ज्यादा बढ़ जाएगा.
हृदयरोग का जोखिम बढ़ा देती है जहरीली

संख्या भी अधिक होगी. ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि हवा में पीएम 2.5 कणों का स्तर लोगों में हृदय और श्वसन
रोगों का जोखिम बढ़ाता है. यह बात पहले से ज्ञात है कि हृदय और श्वसन रोगियों के
लिए कोरोना वायरस जानलेवा साबित होता है.,
यूरोप में प्रदूषण बढ़ा रहा महामारी
यूरोपीय संघ की ओर से कराए गए एक
अध्ययन में सामने आया है कि
लॉकडाउन की पाबंदियों में ढील मिलने के
साथ ही कई बड़े शहरों में नाइट्रोजन डाई ऑक्साइड का स्तर तेजी से बढ़ा है. शरीर के
